The mission of LSA is to create a learning environment, in partnership with parents and JSIS, which respects and honors the whole child, fosters social skill development and growth, and provides experiential learning opportunities in a safe, engaging and inclusive manner.
LSA’s primary focus is Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Out-of-school time provides a meaningful opportunity for students to strengthen these skills in a supportive and engaging environment. We place a strong emphasis on outdoor engagement and play, recognizing the important role it serves in children’s overall well-being and development.
With seven separate classrooms, we regularly collaborate across groups, providing opportunities for students to interact and build relationships with peers of different ages. These cross-group experiences foster leadership, mentorship, and a strong sense of community.
Our approach is informed by the Positive Discipline model, which supports students in developing healthy emotional regulation skills, practicing empathy and kindness, cultivating a growth mindset, and contributing positively to their community.
Experiential Learning: LSA incorporates daily, hands-on activities within each group. Projects are thoughtfully designed around students’ interests and emerging curiosities, encouraging creative, collaborative, and theme-based learning experiences that promote exploration and active participation.
Our hours of operation for the 2025-2026 school year are from 2:25pm – 6:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. We have extended service hours to accommodate the early release time on Wednesdays starting at 1:15pm. LSA is also open on some school breaks and in-service days for full-day childcare for an additional cost.
