The Latona Before and After School Program is currently operating childcare service in support of Seattle Public Schools Hybrid Model. We operate 5 groups of ~10 kids each onsite at the John Stanford International School. Starting 4/5 our hours of operation are 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Frequently Asked Questions: (last updated 5/10/21) What policies and procedures are in place in response to COVID-19? LSA follows the guidance provided by Washington State Department of Health and Seattle/King County Public Health Childcare Health Team as minimum safety and health precautions. Current guidance can be found here (DOH) and here (S/KCPH). In several instances we have modified these procedures to be more protective of student and staff health and to better align with the needs of the program. Each of LSAs groups are isolated from one another, with dedicated classroom space, and no materials/resources shared between them. Each group consists of peers and classmates, one dedicated group leader and a support staff. We engage in regular, enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures, and do not allow outside access to classroom spaces (i.e. parents or visitors in the classroom space)
2020-2021 School Year: What will 1/2-day Remote Learning program look like?
Program hours of operation are 745am -430pm. We offer 1/2 day support for remote learning, and an (optional) Afterschool Program for families that need childcare after 2:30 pm.
If your child attends AM instruction at JSIS, drop them off at the school prior to instruction. LSA staff will retrieve them at 1045 prior to Lunch and Recess.
If your child attends PM instruction at JSIS, drop them off at LSA, and LSA staff will escort them to class at 1145 after Recess and Lunch.
Both AM and PM groups will be combined in Afterschool Care, from 230 - 430pm
LSA Group size is restricted to ~10 students. While we are not able to maintain the same cohorts as JSIS, we will maintain consistent, small groups that (if possible) are grade specific.
What about school breaks and Holidays? Our program is open every day, Monday - Friday, including school breaks, except for the following days:
September 7 Labor Day November 11 Veterans Day Holiday November 26, 27 Thanksgiving Holiday December 24-25 Winter Holiday December 30- January 1 New Years’ Holiday January 18 Martin Luther King Holiday February 15 Presidents’ Day Holiday May 31 Memorial Day Holiday
LSA will also be closed the last Friday of each month to allow our staff an opportunity to engage in required professional development, staff meetings and planning. In the event of closure due to weather, licensing mandate, or as the result of public health issue, you will be notified as soon as possible via email. Where can I find more information about school reopening? The Seattle Public School website Return to In-Person FAQ is the best source of information and is the most up to date information that LSA will have as well.
2021-2022 School Year: Waitlist We hope to be able to return to a normal enrollment and schedule for the 2021-2022 schoolyear. Currently, we do not know what the program capacity will be, or tuition rates, and as such will are wait-listing all families according to a prioritization criteria:
The wait-listing form was made available to currently enrolled and attending families on 5/3. This allows us to continue to provide service to the students and sibling of families that we are currently serving.
The wait-listing form will be made available to formerly enrolled but not currently attending families on 5/17. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO MONITOR YOUR EMAIL!
The wait-listing form will be made available to all JSIS families on 6/1. A link will be sent out through JSIS/Principal Sarah communication.
We will offer available childcare space to waitlisted families on a first-come, first-served basis, using our prioritization criteria.
We hope/expect to be to serve approximately 100 students.
The mission of LSA is to create a learning environment, in partnership with parents and JSIS, which respects and honors the whole child, fosters social skill development and growth, and provides experiential learning opportunities in a safe, engaging and inclusive manner. Latona School Associates (LSA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating the Latona Before and After School Childcare at John Stanford International School.
